What is the Community Engagement Team?
At City Church we desire to be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in Gainesville – to express God’s love for people in a tangible way. Just as Jesus’ ministry included meeting the physical needs of those He came in contact with, we desire to do the same. We are compelled to love and care for the disenfranchised in our society – to love and serve and minister to those in need, without expecting anything in return. We don’t desire to “reinvent the wheel.” There are a number of service organizations and ministries in Gainesville that are currently doing what we just described above. We want to be able to come alongside these organizations and help share the load. We hope to serve as a “clearinghouse” for both individuals and Community Groups at City Church to serve their city and to love as Jesus loved. Our goal would be to come alongside and build long term relationships with families/groups/individuals in need.
How Can I Get Involved?
The Community Engagement Team needs volunteers who can keep the City Church "service opportunities" database updated and promote these opportunities within the church. This involves, among other things, interacting with local ministries and organizations in Gainesville, promoting these opportunities to individuals and Community Groups (through "The City" and other types of social media), and attending a monthly Community Engagement Team meeting.
