Introducing the City Roots Project

Cultivating Gospel Presence for Generations

The Lord has been blessing our downtown community and ever-growing ministries these past fourteen years. We believe the Lord is now calling us into an even deeper and more permanent presence by purchasing our entire building and renovating it to suit our growing needs. We'd like you to learn more and prayerfully partner with us in this effort to bring restoration to our downtown Gainesville, Florida community.

Project Vision

Our City Roots vision is to see all people become rooted and established in the love of God; to be hands and feet of Christ as He draws hearts to Him and grows us for His glory.

"For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, that according to the riches of His glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith - that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Goals

Our long-term goal is to renovate and use our entire building. The renovation of our building will be broken down into three phases:

Phase 1: Children's Ministry Suite - COMPLETE!! You can watch a video walkthrough below!
Phase 2: Sanctuary, Foyer, Prayer Room, Flex Room, Kitchen, and Exterior Improvements
Phase 3: Office/Community Room Upgrades and Re-structuring of current sanctuary for Adult Ed and Youth space

To complete the renovation of our building, we initially set a goal of raising $2.85 million. By the end of Summer 2026, we met this fundraising goal! Praise God for His provision. We have been so encouraged by the faithfulness and generosity of our church in supporting this project.

Our Progress

We broke ground on our renovation project in November 2024, beginning with our new Children's Ministry Suite. While the project took a bit longer than we expected, we were so excited to officially open our new suite at the end of March 2026! Our new Children's Ministry Suite features 8 classrooms, an open flex space, a toddler play area, and a new welcome area! Want to see it for yourself? You can watch a video walkthrough below!

The Next Milestone

Through your generosity and commitments so far, we have raised just over $2.85 million! The Lord has been so faithful to provide these funds, enough to meet our original goal! However, due to historic increases in construction costs since the project began in 2021 (see chart here), we are facing a shortfall between the amount we have on hand and the amount needed to complete Phase 2 (the new sanctuary, lobby, prayer room, kitchen, and exterior improvements) and Phase 3 (office upgrades and re-working our current sanctuary for an adult ed classroom and youth space). While we are working with our architect and contractor to adjust the scope of the project to reduce some costs, we also can close this gap through raising some additional funds.

Our goal is to raise an additional $700,000 by June 1, 2027.
